about MOT
All vehicles require an MOT test by the third anniversary of their registration or by the anniversary of their previous MOT.
The earliest date you can renew your MOT is 30 days before it is due to expire (you will find this date printed on the pass certificate).
You should be aware that the MOT certificate is not a guarantee of the general mechanical condition of a vehicle. Should your vehicle require any MOT repairs, we will be able to advise and provide a detailed quotation.
Why Change the Engine Oil And Filter?
Changing your vehicle’s engine oil and filter is one of the most important things you can do to avoid costly engine repairs in the future.
Engine oil performance decreases over time and mileage. As it degrades, the oil becomes less effective as a lubricant and results in irreversible damage to various internal parts of the engine.
Oil also contains additives that have the ability to: neutralise acids, reduce wear, reduce carbon deposits and hold back the formation of rust. Over time these additives become less effective.
Oil also absorbs moisture, dust and carbon contamination, which is a by-product of combustion. Carbon deposits in particular, can cause blockages in oilways and restrict the oil flow to vital components such as the turbocharger. When a turbocharger runs with a reduced oil feed permanent damage occurs which results in very expensive replacement costs.
With today’s stringent emission controls the use of the correct oil specification is essential.
Peter Ostling Automotive stock a wide range of engine oils to suit the specific requirements manufactures recommend for the vehicles we service.
Servicing and Mechanical Repairs
The purpose of a car service is to check and replace the parts which deteriorate and wear down over time and mileage. This will maintain the best overall performance and safety of your vehicle.
Some parts, such as lights, cabin filters, tires, and brake pads need checking more frequently than others, such as the timing belt, fuel filter, and spark plugs.
Every car is different, so to find out what needs replacing, and when, you can check your vehicle service book, or call us with your vehicle details and we will be able to guide you on what will be required. We can carry out servicing to your vehicle’s specific service schedule requirements and reset the service indicator light on the instrument panel. We can carry out many other mechanical repairs, some of which are listed below;
